Lunar New Year 2025 in Liverpool

Gung Hey Fat Choy! 恭喜發財

Join us this February as Liverpool prepares to welcome the Year of the Snake with vibrant Lunar New Year celebrations!

Liverpool is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe and the largest Chinese Ceremonial Archway in Europe, this year the city commemorates 25 years since its installation. The Archway provides a grand setting for the festivities, as lanterns light up the streets of the city and traditional dragon, lion, and unicorn dances bring the city to life.

Visitors can look forward to live performances, delicious Chinese street food, art workshops, storytelling, and a bustling funfair. The main celebrations will take place on Sunday 2 February, with a full day of family-friendly activities centred around Great George Square.
